One of the best walks from Windermere is the short climb up Orrest Head which opens out with lovely views of Lake Windermere and the coniston fells. This walk starts from our front door so no need for transport this walk can be as long or as short as you like with Wansfell adjoining then heading down into Ambleside. 

1.8 miles gentle stroll down the hill, with shops, bars and restaurants along the way, finishing on the lake shore with views over Claiffe Heights

Starting in Bowness this short but steep climb up past Biskey Howe view point taking you up further to a variety of spectacular views of Windermere and the stunning central fells of the Lake District, with plenty of resting places and potential picnic sites. 

This then c onto Brantfell, for a stunning 360 degree view of Windermere. You’ll also travel along historic locations such as the Carriageway and Promenade stone benches.
